Do You Feel?

I was watching a show earlier on TBN. Now, normally I'm not into Christian TV, or rather, anything mislabeled "Christian." (Soaps, Oils, Lotions, Bookmarks, Gas Stations, Schools...more on that later.) But I stumbled upon this show of these guys traveling the globe and just loving. I found them in Somalia.

That's it.
Just. Loving.

Pictures of a war-torn, poor, malnourished country flashed on the TV. They were in the bush and there was an insane asylum (basically, tents thrown out in the dirt) and so many people were there just chained up because they had lost control of their minds. There were children that were just thrown out in the street.

This bothers me. I remember being in Honduras and just holding a little girl as she just pee'd and laid there speechless in my arms. I remember just laughing, I didn't care about the stench and the HANES shirt I was wearing, it didn't matter. I remember putting shoes in an elderly man int he middle of the jungle. I was wrapped in the moment of covering her in love. Something she probably didn't get much of. Something we ALL could use more of.

Why is there injustice in the world? It's not fair. Why do we hurt, and why is there such a severance in cultures and hearts?

Perhaps this is why I want to be a doctor. I want to do my part. Not only that. I want to make smiles happen. I want to suture broken hearts.

Perhaps Bryce Avery said it best...
"Do you feel
The weight of the world singing sorrow
Or to you is it just not real
Cause you got your own things,
Yeah we all have so many things"

oh. And side note. If you haven't listened to Noah Gundersen, you are missing out. Brand New World is rocking my face off:

His mother was a sailor lost at sea
Maybe you could say no less of me
Looking for answers that never come
We survived the season of the rain and snow
Talking about places that we'd like to go
And dreaming California and the summer sun

It's a brand new world

So settle down young boy, relax
Settle down young boy, get that load off your back
Settle down young boy, the winter is over
It's all just beginning, it's all just beginning here

His father was a coward with a monkey's tail
Spitting on the flowers at the gates of hell
But I've been picking daisies by the carousel
She kissed me as the silence turned to rain
Just as it will be and has always been
I'm bagging up the cash as the cops rush in

It's a brand new world
And as the light of the moon turns to the sunny side of April
We will run, we will run

So settle down young boy, relax
Settle down young boy, get that load off your back
Settle down young boy, the winter is over
It's all just beginning, it's all just beginning here
